Join the My Journey Wokingham Challenge
Travelling around Wokingham in a way that is good for the environment and your neighbourhood deserves more than just a pat on the back. With the BetterPoints app your sustainable journeys can earn you rewards every time you walk, wheel, run, cycle, or use public transport.
Earning BetterPoints is easy! Download the BetterPoints app from the App Store or Google Play. It will track how you choose to get around and show how many points you’ve earned. You can turn your points into high street shopping vouchers or donate them to your favourite charity!
The My Journey Wokingham Challenge is due to run in Wokingham until 31 March 2024. It’s about encouraging people to help create a cleaner, greener borough by travelling in ways that benefit the environment, health and your community.
Follow these instructions to get you started:
1. Download the BetterPoints app from the App Store or the Google Play Store.
2. Tap “Join Now” in the app and fill out the registration form.
3. Tap the ⚡ "Challenges" button on the bottom navigation bar and select to join 'My Journey Wokingham'.
4. Complete the 'Wokingham Baseline Survey' from the message in your timeline to unlock your activity rewards.
5. Slide the toggle switch in the top right corner of the app to "Tracking is on" and remember to take your phone with you.
6. Start earning BetterPoints and BetterTickets!
How can we help you to stay motivated?
With BetterPoints you can see your points accumulate in the app. Check out the rewards you can earn here. We will also share news of what is going on in your area to help you maintain your active and sustainable travel habit. We've got regular prize draws, plus we'll have campaigns, competitions and giveaways throughout the challenge.
How much information do I need to share to sign up?
When you first register to use the BetterPoints app, it will ask you to provide personal details to get you started. This includes your name, email address, year of birth, and postcode. We also ask you to create a secure password for accessing the BetterPoints app and protecting your account. You will be asked to consent to your geo-location data being captured by allowing the app to access "Location" and "Motion & Fitness". Allowing this is essential for calculating your activities and rewards. All location data is anonymised, aggregated and only used for reporting so that Wokingham Borough Council can improve travel planning and so we can make the app better. By sharing tracked activities you are helping to make Wokingham a greener, cleaner, safer and more liveable for everyone.
